What are Tera Raids?

Tera Raid Battles are cooperative multiplayer battles in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet where up to 4 players team up to battle and catch a Terastallized wild Pokémon. These powerful Pokémon have shifted to a different Tera Type, changing their strengths and weaknesses dramatically from their standard typing.

Raid Difficulty Levels

  • 1-2 Star Raids: Beginner-friendly raids perfect for new trainers
  • 3-4 Star Raids: Intermediate difficulty requiring type advantage planning
  • 5 Star Raids: Advanced raids with competitive movesets and higher stats

Why Tera Types Matter

When a Pokémon Terastallizes, it changes to its Tera Type, gaining STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) on moves of that type and adopting the defensive properties of the new type. A Fire-type Charizard that becomes Dragon Tera Type will be weak to Dragon, Fairy, and Ice moves instead of its usual Water, Electric, and Rock weaknesses. Understanding these shifts is crucial for raid success.
